Women's Art Prize & Exhibition 2015

Delivered in partnership with the Northern Sydney Institute - part of
TAFE NSW and the Sydney Gallery School

Last night's opening night was a bit of a buzz, after a week of anticipation and excitement from being short listed. There was no shortage of good wine, wonderful friends, laughs and of course a high standard of good diverse art. Categories included YOUTH, OPEN, COMMUNITY and PEOPLE'S CHOICE.  The SEE St Gallery- was a fabulous open planned space with a groovy atmosphere, and 'arty' vibe. The turn up was a good sized crowd that was diverse age, gender and style, they looked like they where generally enjoying themselves, interested in reading the blurbs about each piece and the many stories  told of many women and their lives. The thoughts and inspirations which were the driving force for making their art piece, their creativity. My painting was well displayed in a predominate position and even though I was piped as the winner, I was artistically satisfied as my theme was original and stood out as different from all the others. I felt very privileged to be a finalist in the open and People's Choice category. If you feel like popping in it's  worth a peep if your looking for creative inspiration or direction.
                              EXHIBITION DATES: May 28 - 13 June
GALLERY HOURS: Tuesday to Sunday 11AM - 4PM

 My Entry:
                              WOMEN IN THE BUSH
                               LEONE HARRIS

'Women in the Bush,' is a personal reflection of my own life's
experiences spreading over the past ten years. A combination of being an
Australian woman and my love of the Australian Bushland, telling a story
of a younger me, discovering sexuality, life and maturing into a woman,
embracing motherhood and later an artist.
These visually transpired memories captured in my modern style, my focus
being shape and form, transpiring into feminine spiritual energy within
the natural landscape of The Hawkesbury Waterways.
