Welcome to my new blog!!
Hello every-one and any-one... who's interested. l'm currently on a painting roll, and am churning out work left, right and centre. The painting in the large back groung is called 'Three Angels', and is the third of five so far. This wonderful free work has me calling on all my learning skills I have been taught at art school. Where life drawing classes were 'the' and only place to be!Starting with a painted black surface, then randomly applying colour and shape.Rich reds, yellow ocure, and magenta all tickeling my pallet at the moment.Rotating the canvas so I lose all sense of the right way up.Then decision making time... I contimplate from a far, with peppermint tea or wine, depending on the time of day or who's around. Looking for figures , that seem to grow at random, out of this time captule we call painting.Every figure I paint comes to life.Every one different and individual, some distorted, each telling a story.Like us really.
Lines Of Life Solo Exhibition, March 8 - 19, 2011
What a night!
As we all made our way to the Breathing Colours gallery in Balmain for Lill's exhibition opening many of us were filled with anticipation, excitement and pride. And we weren't disappointed! An incredible body of Lill's work awaited us. Her amazing use of colour, line and shape blew us all away. This was the work of a very accomplished artist.
And a very popular one too it seems, with about eighty guests attending. We all had a wonderful night and made Lill feel extremely supported and very loved.
Most artists feel lucky to sell one or two paintings on opening night, but a whopping eight people secured a piece of Lill's work that night. She couldn't have been more pleased.
"Besides my wedding and the birth of my children, it was the best night of my life", an ecstatic Leone said.
Thanks to everyone for being part of Leone Harris' first solo exhibition. Here's hoping it was the first of many more to come!
"Opening night was a smashing success. With a mixed crowd of 80, from all works of life. Eleven travelling from Melbourne. The atmosphere was dynamic and bubbly. The wine was tasteful, chicken sandwiches delightful, sushi refreshing. Sales very encouraging. Noella Burn opened the exhibition with her words profound and wise with 'artworld' experience. Then off to dinner, more cheers and standing ovations at Elfendy, across the way in cosmopolitan Darling St. Oh and l forgot to mention the artwork was sensational! " - Simone Heydon
